GEDI LiDAR in the Amazon Rainforest

Detailed investigation of GEDI accuracy and applications as related to understory fire in the amazon rainforest

The Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation (GEDI) project is an emergent technology for global forest research, acquiring lidar measurements of vegetation vertical structure across Earth’s tropical, sub-tropical, and temperate forests. My Master's research focussed on assessing GEDI's utility in assessing change in forest structure in response to understory fires in the Amazon Rainforest. This project divided into two sub-topics: GEDI validation and quantifying forest structural response to fire.
